NECC Food Pantry Posted in Community Outreach | November, 2021 print friendly version

October 2021-Susan Bonenfant, from Salem Co-operative Bank and a member of NECC Alumni Board, helped organize the replenishment of NECC’s two food pantries in Haverhill, MA and Lawrence, MA.

The NECC Alumni Board discussed the best options to positively impact the Food Insecurity Pantry on the college campuses and came to the agreement that Market Basket gift cards would be most beneficial.  This will allow students to purchase their proper cultural needs for the holidays, as not all families celebrate Thanksgiving with turkey.  Hygiene items are also needed and will be accepted as items or a donation so that the pantry can purchase these items.

Salem Co-operative Bank donated $500 to the initiative and in total more than $1,100 was raised to help the cause.  The college mobile market was available on both the Haverhill and Lawrence Campuses on 10/26/21.  Susan, we thank you for your time and dedication to help alleviate food insecurities.  Keep up the good work!
